Adeline Belle Squire :)

What an exciting, tiring, and wonderful week we've had!! We are happy to announce the arrival of our baby girl!!! Adeline Belle Squire born on 2/21/10, 8lbs 4oz, 22 in long.

If anyone wants to spare themselves from the birth story details skip this paragraph. Anyway on friday we had our 41 wk appt. and were told still dilated to 4 and that we could schedule testing for induction on monday. We went home and went out to eat thinking it would be a long weekend. On saturday we decided to get out and about go to toy store, petco, some shopping etc. Shortly after we got home my water broke! All I could think was thank god I wasn't in toys r us!!! ha ha I was excited thinking finally this is it! We called dr and were told we could wait at home and contrations were sure to kick in within 6 hrs. They did and by 10 or 11 they were getting close together. By midnight we were leaving for hospital. I was in pain but it was bearable. I was sure this was going to be a quick labor and that I would be able to follow my birth plan!!! ha ha yeah right!! I think I did everything that I said I wasn't going to do or take!!

By 3am I was only dilated to 5 and contrations were right on top of each other with no relief. I was feeling miserable and shortly after being told this was going to take a while I gave in and they gave me Nubain. I was feeling very loopy, but still in a ton of pain. Shortly after that I was yelling for chris to have them get me an epidural!! ha ha I swore that I wouldn't get one!! It didn't hurt to get at all, but I had a hard time not visualizing it, since I'm a nurse. It was a great relief and I quickly dilated to 8! I thought wow now it's going to be fast. Wrong!! They let me push just to see what would happen after 40 or so min. I was told to rest get a boost in my epidural because I would have to push like that for 3 more hrs if we tried now!!!! Also forgot to add that the edidural made my blood pressure drop and I was given tons of fluids and effedrin to boost it up. After trying to rest for a couple of hrs they decided it was time for pitocin. I knew this was going to make contractions bad and it did.

This is around the time they decided to turn down the epidural and everythings a little fuzzy after that. Chris said I then moaned like an animal for the rest of labor and just said the pressure, it hurts so bad etc..... I pushed in total for 4 hrs and finally at 1:40 pm she was born.

After delivery I was overwhelmed and couldn't believe it was over. I felt instant relief and couldn't believe that baby was mine! They just had a little problem getting bleeding under control, but I was given cytotec and stiches and was good to go!!

We were able to have grandparents come in soon and moved upstairs. Everyone was so nice and the care was excellent. We couldn't have asked for anymore. Well thats about it for the birth story. New pictures are soon to come!

41 weeks!

Yes thats right, we've reached 41 weeks! We had our weekly drs appt on friday and heard pretty much what we expected. Babies will come when they're ready, etc... but they will be willing to induce me next week if I would like! My reply was bring on the Pitocin!

I was told that I was 75% effaced and dilated to 4 and that she was sure I would go on my own! Yeah right I'll believe it when I see it. So we scheduled the preliminary testing needed for induction on Monday morning. This consist of an ultrasound, stress test, and check of amniotic fluid. I was told any time after that testing I can schedule appt with hospital for induction. So I'm hoping they let me come in monday night or tuesday! :)

We also asked them to give us a guess on baby's weight! She told us her guess was only good for 24 hrs, but she is thinking 8 lbs 13 oz right now!!! Yikes!! On the way home for our appt I was starting to have contractions but like usual we started to time them and by 8 they has fizzled out again!

Maybe labor will start on it's own today or tomorrow, but I'm not very hopeful. We are so used to contractions at this point that were not getting excited unless it last for hours!

I will be sure to have an update again on Monday afternoon after our appointment! Wish us luck! We know that the time is very very soon! :)

Happy Valentines Day!

It's sunday and valentines day and we were hoping that maybe we would have a valentine baby, but probably not. We had our drs. appt on friday and now I am offically overdue! The good news is that our midwife says everything looks great and baby is still doing good inside her cozy environment. She said that we would not really discuss induction until friday and at that time they will do another ultrasound and profile on the baby. Just so they can guess another weight on her, check my placenta, and amniotic fluid etc..

I and the midwife were pleasantly surprised to see that I was already dilated to 4 and 50% thinned. I was realieved to see that there was at least some progress there. After she checked me she even said, maybe well see you this weekend! So we have been keeping our fingers crossed that I do go into labor, because we really like her.

Other than that we are just spending the weekend realaxing and being lazy before our little one decides to arrive. Hope to have more news to post for everyone soon! :)

False labor :(

We had a false alarm last night around dinner time. Around 6:30 last night strong contractions started out of nowhere. I also started to have nauseau with hot and cold flashes, yuck!! We tried timing them but they were all over the place. After about an hour and a half we decided that maybe this was it. After a long hot shower the contractions stopped and we were back to square one again! :( I still had some strong braxton hicks throughout the night but nothing that persisted. It made for one sleepless and sore night.

We are just hoping that we will hear some good news at our drs appt. today. Hopefully all of those contractions will have led to some progress, dilation, etc... I am keeping my fingers crossed. I am also hoping we will be discussing induction. Fingers crossed!!!

Things I miss

Since I'm not working and just waiting for baby to arrive I've had plenty of time to ponder things and daydream at home. I thought I would make a list of the things I miss most about not being pregnant! Even Chris has mentioned the fact that it seemed like so long ago he can't picture me not pregnant! ha ha

Anyway the top things I miss are: Foods: Sushi mmmmmmm..... sushi tango I heart you!! Feta cheese, lunch meats, lots of coffee, beer, bloody mary's, and of course wine!!! I have been daydreaming about these things often.

Activities: Running, jogging, exercise, etc.. Now I know most people would say you can exercise when your pregnant, but I really could not. I got light headed and sharp abd pains right from the beginning of pregnancy whenever I would try to exercise. I can not wait to go to the gym and feel the high of a good workout or run!

Sleeping: Of course I sleep, but not through the night without the help of ambien or benadryl. I dread the night time knowing that it will be a battle between bathroom trips and groaning to reposition myself every 5 min to find a comfy position.

Of course last I would have to mention that I miss the feeling of being in control of my own body! Every time I look down at my feel and ankles I think who's body is this, It's not mine!! Months ago I realized that I was just along for this ride and our baby girl was calling the shots. I would watch my body transform itself into what feels like a weak, waddly old lady!

Ok so I'm done ranting and complaining now. Next month you will see me blog about all of the things I miss about being pregnant and what it was like to sleep whenever I wanted! ha ha Really I have been very very lucky and had an easy pregnancy with no difficulties. I have been blessed that everything is normal and baby has been healthy and I know that tons of women would kill to have an uncomplicated pregancy. So indeed I am very grateful for that. I will mention that chris and I are just getting very impatient because we can't wait to meet our little girl. We want to see her now! We know that it is so close and that is the part that is hard. Waking up every morning thinking maybe today will be the day I go into labor!! Until then I am left trying to pass the time with silly post on my blog. We are keeping are fingers crossed that this will be the last week of pregancy! :)

No new progress :(

Just got back from our weekly drs appt. Midwife says I'm not any more dilated or effaced :( She said we'll see you back here next week, which was not what I wanted to hear. I guess our little girl will arrive when she is ready. Chris is still convinced that labor will start with the super bowl kickoff!! ha ha I wish! ;)

On the bright side I guess I have another week to clean and prep for things. I told chris he is taking me to the mall this week so I can walk, not that I can walk very far. I am going to try to make it a productive week and not be obsessive with the waiting!

Happy super bowl weekend to those who have been waiting. We will keep you updated with any new progress.

Waiting, Waiting, Waiting!!!

I think I offically started nesting these last couple days. Well at least this was the first time in my life I felt the extreme urge to vacum cobwebs from the ceiling and scrub the dials on the toaster!! I am getting very inpatient waiting for our little one to arrive. I had some contractions last week and the drs got my hopes up by telling me I was dialated and moving along surprisingly fast. I thought for sure I would be going into labor early, but now I am starting to think not! :( I haven't had any consisitent contrations but lots of braxton hicks contrations.

I am now trying any old wives tale I've ever heard for inducing labor. Being a nurse I know most of these are full of it, but it hasn't stopped me from trying. So extreme spicy food doesn't work, but it does equal a night of indegestion!! Pinapple didn't do it for me either. I continue to try the walking and more walking method. I keep urging chris to take me to this or that store and to let me walk around hoping that will get things moving. Well probably nothing new to report on until or drs appt on friday! :)
